About Japan Society of Private Colleges and Universities of Nursing

History

On July 13, 1976, a preparatory committee composed of private nursing university and junior college presidents and other officials was launched at the behest of the late Dr. Shigeaki Hinohara, and at the inaugural general meeting on August 2, 1976, the Japan Society of Private Colleges and Universities of Nursing was founded as the Japan Association of Private Nursing Colleges with 11 member schools (2 universities and 9 junior colleges). Its founding purpose was set as: “to fulfill the missions of nursing higher education institutions by promoting universities and contributing to the development of academics and education through partnerships and cooperation among the universities in recognition of the important role that private universities hold as Japan’s higher education institutions for nursing.”

It was renamed as the Japan Society of Private Colleges and Universities of Nursing in 1998 and was incorporated as a general incorporated association in 2009.
