STUDY OF THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON NURSING PRACTICE IN FY2020

Since January 2020, due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, nursing educational institutions have cancelled, postponed, or shortened face-to-face lectures, exercises, and practical training, which has had a significant impact on courses taken by students at all grade levels. Thanks to the efforts of various universities, lectures and exercises are now being offered face-to-face in order to prevent infection, and distance learning has been introduced, with some success. However, in the field of practical nursing courses, which constitute an important part of nursing education, while I respect the efforts of nursing faculty members, the outlook is not yet clear, and I assume that they are still being pressed for further action.
With the aim of examining the state of nursing education and nursing practice in the era of the Corona disaster and to prevent the quality of nursing education from deteriorating, we conducted a survey of each university's approach to nursing practice in the Corona disaster as a joint project with the Japan Association of Nursing Programs Universities. We are pleased to report our findings here.
